Arts & Entertainment FHS and MMS music departments present ‘Sounds of the Season’

 Photos by Vickie CarpenterFranklin High School Music Department held its 2012 Sounds of the Season Concert on Dec. 6, at the Fine Arts Center.

Under the direction of Buddy Huckabee The Jazz Ensemble and the Concert Band played such holiday favorites as “Feliz Navidad,” “Sleigh Ride” and “Carol of the Bells.” The B-Naturals and The Concert Choir under the direction of Robert Jessup sang the traditional “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” and the more contemporary “Song of Santa,” among others.

The FHS Combined Ensembles and the audience participated in a holiday sing-a-long, with songs such as ”Deck The Halls,” “Jingle Bells” and other Christmas classics.

The Macon Middle School Band, under the direction of Jennifer Speier, held a Christmas Concert on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Fine Arts Center.

The Eighth Grade Band played “White Christmas” and “A Christmas Grab Bag.” A clarinet-flute duet of “The Christmas Song” was played by Milenna Frazier and Kim Buccoy.

The Seventh Grade Band played “Silver Bells,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and Graciana Zimmerman performed a flute solo of “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.”

The Honors Band played “Do You Hear What I Hear,” along with percussion solos by Britt Cochran, Bristol Watson, and Cody Strain as they played the “African Bell Carol.”
