Second annual ‘Walking with Spring’ Photography Contest
In celebration of Franklin being recognized and designated as an Appalachian Trail Conservancy Community, the Macon County Public Library is sponsoring its second annual photography contest “Walking With Spring.”
Photographs of hikers, landscapes, or nature, as long as it is taken on the Appalachian Trail, are accepted.
This contest is open to amateurs and all contestants are welcome. (Amateurs are anyone who does not receive all or a major part of their income from the sale of their photographs.) Macon County Public Library staff, judges and their family members are not eligible.
The two categories are Junior — photographers under the age of 16 and Adult — photographers 16 years of age and older.
For every entry fee of $10, each participant may enter up to three photographs. An Official Entry Form must accompany each image and be submitted during the entry period beginning March 1, and ending March 21.
Entry fee monies will be used to purchase prizes for the top three winners in each category. Three local artists have volunteered to be judges for the contest. Photos will be on display at the Macon County Public Library until April 8. The winning entries for both categories will be displayed in the library.
Entry forms and complete rules may be obtained at the library or downloaded from www.fontanalib.org/franklin. For more information, call Tracy or Kristina at (828)524-3600.
