Arts & Entertainment Macon County Cemetery Book published

The Jackson County Genealogical Society has announced the publication of the Macon County Cemetery Book, Volume I. Orders are being accepted for delivery in April 2011.

This volume covers all known cemeteries east of the Little Tennessee River with gravestone inscriptions through 2009. Inscriptions include the first and last name of the interred as well as birth and death dates where given. Other inscriptions such as military service, son of, daughter of, wife of, etc. are also included, and the volume features an every-name index.

The same persons who compiled the information for the popular Jackson and Swain County Cemetery Books gathered the information for this volume, and the same easy-to-use format is followed. It will be the first of two volumes of Macon County Cemeteries. The second volume will cover all the known cemeteries west of the Little Tennessee River and will be available in the near future.

Copies of Volume I may be ordered for shipping to a specific address or may be picked up at locations to be announced. Orders should be placed soon in order to be assured of receiving a copy from the first printing. The cost is $35 (including tax) if the book is picked up in person, and $37.50 (including tax and shipping) if the book is to be shipped.

An order form and/or further information may be obtained by calling (828)369-8030 or (828)293-5227 or are available at the JCGS website, http://www.jcncgs.com/maconcem.htm.
