Arts & Entertainment Asheville Symphony to perform Sunday at WCU

The Asheville Symphony Orchestra will join forces with the Asheville Symphony Chorus and the Western Carolina University Concert Choir for a performance at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 21, in the John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center in Cullowhee.

Daniel Meyer, music director of the Asheville Symphony Orchestra, will conduct. Michael Lancaster, WCU director of choral activities and music director of the Asheville Symphony Chorus, will prepare the two singing groups – which will form one large choir – for the performance.

The concert will consist of works by Arvo Pärt, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The concert will begin with “Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten” by Estonian composer Pärt and Vaughan Williams’ “Flos Campi,” or “Flowers of the Field.” The second half of the concert will feature a performance of
