Arts & Entertainment Youth Arts Festival at GEP Saturday

The Jackson County Green Energy Park “Trash Dragon” will make an appearance at the Youth Art Festival Saturday, Sept. 21.On Saturday, Sept. 21, the 6th annual Youth Arts Festival will be hosted once more at the Jackson County Green Energy Park (GEP) in Dillsboro from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. This popular festival features local and regional artists demonstrating their skills and sharing their passion for their art.

In addition to glassblowing, blacksmithing, pottery, and other demonstrations, artists will be working hands-on with the children to make pots, weave bookmarks, create glass mosaics, paint with tennis balls, and much more. The stage area will feature local musicians and dance troupes, and the GEP Trash Dragon will be making several appearances as well. Aspiring artists can also help decorate several of the large rainwater collection tanks used at the greenhouses.

No admission is charged to attend the Youth Arts Festival and all art activities are free. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Parking is limited, so carpooling is strongly encouraged. No pets allowed: service animals only.

The Green Energy Park is an award-winning project that uses landfill gas and other renewable energy resources to fuel a variety of art studios and other efforts. Information on tours, studio rentals, and upcoming public classes, is available at the GEP’s website: www.jcgep.org.
