Keith Shuler, WNC native, will be telling stories and singing songs about people and places in and around Jackson County, in the Community Room of the Jackson County Public Library Complex in Sylva on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m.
Shuler plays and writes in a variety of styles from old mountain and bluegrass songs on the acoustic and slide guitar, to folk, blues and rock tunes. His audiences are often fascinated by his finger-picking, clawhammer style of guitar playing. He also enjoys playing a two-finger style banjo.
In 1984, Shuler and his wife, Pam, went to Los Angeles to explore the entertainment industry. After working in LA for seven years, the call of the mountains became too strong and they returned to Western North Carolina. The Shulers currently live in the Scotts Creek area of Jackson County.
Shuler's performance at the Jackson County Public Library in Sylva is free and open to the public. The event is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Jackson County Public Library. For more information, call the library at (828)586-2016.
