Arts & Entertainment Historic Cowee School Celebration Saturday

The Second Annual Historic Cowee School Celebration is planned for Saturday, Aug. 16, from 12 noon to 6 p.m. at the Historic Cowee School and Grounds, 51 Cowee School Drive, Franklin.

Bring the family and join a grand celebration of history and culture, live entertainment, shopping, a wide array of foods, and activities.

Events and activities include:

• Tours of the school
• Cornhole Tournament with $100 cash to winner
• Sack races for children with prizes
• Macon Face Painting
• Music stage with live entertainment
• Children’s activities presented by the Macon County Arts Council
• Shopping at a variety of different vendors
• Border Collie demonstration by Mr. Bill Coburn of Laurens, S.C.
• Food and refreshments
• Antique car show
• Exhibits and live demonstrations
• Read 2 Me
• Farmer’s market with fresh vegetables, flowers, and piping hot and buttery corn on the cob to enjoy at the event
• Beautiful quilt displays
• Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians display
• Guided tours of Cowee West’s Mill Historic District
• Local art (paintings and drawings)

And much, much more!

This event is free and parking is free at Cowee Baptist Church, with free shuttle service to the school. Come join us and learn about the many opportunities available to the residents of Macon County at the Historic Cowee School.
