After 55 years of operating on Main Street, People’s will be closing it’s doors in January.
When J.C. Jacobs opened People’s, the world depended upon its local merchants to provide for their basic needs.
With energy and enthusiasm Jacobs opened his store and sought to meet the needs of the people while feeding and clothing, raising and educating his family.
“When I first opened, people were lined from the front door all the way to the bank to get a broom for a quarter,” said Jacobs. “And now, this is a $6 broom.”
