Last Friday about 40 mobsters raided Roomful of Nuts on the Georgia Road all with one goal in mind: To spend $20 cash in order to offer the locally owned business a quick financial incentive.
"Cash Mob Franklin had our biggest cash mob to date, and we couldn't be happier with the impact we are making on our local business community and economy,” said Venture Local member Matt Bateman. “With 38 members of the Franklin community attending the Roomful of Nuts Cash Mob, it was not only our biggest, but was also our most diverse group of mobsters yet. From retirees to young families, and every age in between, Roomful of Nuts was jam packed with a wide variety of like-minded folks that want to support locally owned businesses. For our future cash mobs, and various other initiatives like VLF's StreetFests, we will continue to raise the bar. VLF is an inclusive movement, and we invite the entire community to join us, as we help to move Franklin forward."
As part of being selected as Venture Local's cash mob victim, Roomful of Nuts pledged to “pay it forward” by donating a check for $150 to REACH of Macon County.
"We are so thankful for the donation," said Ashley Freeman with REACH. "With the economy the way it is, every donation is appreciated. We really appreciate Roomful of Nuts. It's a great local business and REACH of Macon County also wants to support this local businesses and other local businesses. We're a local agency working to improve the lives of those in our community as well as to support our local businesses."
The next cash mob is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, April 19, when mobsters will set their sites on Outdoor 76 on Main Street.
