Features Free small business seminars focus on web success

The week of April 22 will be packed with opportunities for small business owners to get a competitive edge by attending their choice of four free seminars offered by Southwestern Community College’s Small Business Center.

On Monday April 22, business coach and Social Media expert Martin Brossman will be presenting “Create Your Own Website & Blog Using WordPress.” This seminar gives information and hands-on instruction showing you how to create a working website and blog that you can maintain yourself.

“WordPress gives a strong competitive advantage over other web design tools by giving control of the site to the owner at an affordable price,” Brossman said. This class will be from 6 until 9 p.m. on the Jackson Campus.

Brossman will be participating in Macon County’s Biz Week sponsored by the Macon County Economic Development Commission in Franklin. On Tuesday, April 23, Brossman will present “Social Media In Business,” from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at SCC’s Groves Center. This is a must-attend seminar for anyone looking to update their web marketing skills and to supercharge their online presence. Attendees will learn how to put their business on the map using free Internet directories and social media applications. Brossman will also be presenting “Create Your Own Website & Blog Using WordPress” from 2 until 5 p.m.

Brossman teaches at Small Business Centers and Chamber of Commerce venues across North Carolina. More information about his upcoming classes can be found on his website: www.NCSmallBusinessTraining.com, which also provides public pages of free resources for small businesses. Class participants will receive access to more extensive resources available on the site.
