Features Health & Wellness Angel Primary Care to merge with Riverview Medical Associates

Leslie Norris, DNP, Riverview Medical AssociatesPatients of Angel Medical Center’s Primary Care in Franklin will now have to get familiar with a new location, new faces, and even a new practice altogether.

In a letter sent from Angel Primary Care's physician, Alexander G. Borun, to current patients, he announced that not only would he be leaving the practice, but that Angel Primary Care would be relocating to the site of the former location for Pediatric Associates of Franklin, and also that the practice would be merging with Riverview Medical Associates expected to be completed by the end of August.

Borun describes the transitional period as “an exciting time for Angel Primary Care.” He also explained that the move is intended to allow the practice to provide patients with better service and more provider options by joining forces with another strong primary care office.

Dr. Borun also informed patients that by mid-September the new office will have integrated an electronic medical record system into the practice which will allow office visits to become more efficient for all patients.

The new Angel Primary Care-Riverview Medical Associates combination will sport the name of the latter practice and will also be welcoming a new face to the office. Board-certified Internal Medicine physician Dr. Michael Sheaffer, a hospitalist with Angel Medical Center since January 2009, will be joining Riverview Medical Associates on a full-time basis. Although Borun's letter explained that Sheaffer's addition “will allow an expansion of appointment hours to better accommodate your needs,” he also informed patients that, “Unfortunately, on the heels of these enhancements, I will be leaving Angel Physician Practices at the end of September 2011.”

Dr. Borun also assured patients that his departure is not due to any unfortunate circumstance, but instead gave him the opportunity to move closer to family. “This decision is not a reflection on my patients or practice with Angel Physician Practices, but will allow us to relocate closer to family.”

According to Borun, patients will be given the opportunity to select a new primary care physician from a number of “talented medical professionals at Riverview Medical Associates.” He also encourages his former patients to “trust your health care to Riverview Medical Associates.”

If patients decide to select another practice to continue their primary care needs, Borun assures that the staff will “be happy to provide your records to that practice.”

Even in the midst of his departure, Borun attempted to offer comfort to his patients. “For my part, I appreciate the opportunity to have served as your physician and have enjoyed working with you very much. I will miss seeing you, but rest assured, your medical care will be in excellent hands at a great clinic that is becoming greater!,” reads the letter.
