Carol Ann’s Bridal and Formal Wear just opened recently at 1543 Highlands Road, Franklin, near Chris and Charlie’s Restaurant.

Owner Carol Ann Nader has a full showroom of wedding gowns, and dresses for bridesmaids and flower girls for the perfect wedding, as well as a variety of formal wear just in time for this season’s prom.



Flo Wells, owner of Antiques Resource has opened her doors to the public in downtown Franklin.

Antiques Resource is located at 1014 E. Main Street and is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, closed Wednesday.

The Macon County Economic Development Commission has announced planned activities for BizWeek 2015, April 28 to April 30.

“We are pleased to bring back two of our most popular events this year, Entrepreneur Networking Night V and the BizWeek 2015 Banquet,” said Tommy Jenkins, county EDC director. “Both events are designed to show appreciation to Macon County’s business community for their contributions to our local economy.”

BizWeek kicks off with Entrepreneur Networking Night V (ENN V), to be held at The Bowery in downtown Franklin, Tuesday, April 28, at 6 p.m. Special guest will be Justin Belleme, 2014 Asheville Entrepreneur of the Year. Belleme is the founder and director of strategy at JB Media Group, a full service internet marketing agency. He is founder and lead trainer in the JB Media Institute, a comprehensive online marketing education program. JB Media’s client list includes The Grove Park Inn & Spa, Tupelo Honey Café, Home Trust Bank, the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indian and more than 60 other local and regional businesses. A graduate of UNC-Asheville, Belleme is a recipient of The Order of the Pisgah, which recognizes exemplary service to the university and community.


The Macon County Economic Development Commission and Certified Entrepreneurial Community Leadership Team have announced the establishment of the 2015 Macon County Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for outstanding performance in the field of entrepreneurship.

Online nominations for the award are now being accepted with finalists to be announced at the Entrepreneur Networking Night V, scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, at The Bowery in downtown Franklin. The winner will be named at the BizWeek 2015 Banquet, Thursday, April 30, in the Fellowship Hall of Holly Springs Baptist Church. Information on both events is available at

Nominees must be under 35 years old as of April 1, 2015; be a full-time resident of Macon County; operate a for profit business domiciled in Macon County; and be in business for at least one year prior to April 1, 2015.
