Jackson authorities arrested several individuals from Graham, Haywood and Swain counties last Wednesday on charges related to the sale of methamphetamine.
According to a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office statement released on Oct. 20, county deputies obtained a search warrant on Oct. 19 for the residence of 38-year-old Danny William Ratliff.
At approximately 10:15 p.m., Jackson deputies and agents with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation executed the search warrant at Ratliff’s home on 333 Barkers Creek Road in the Qualla Community of Jackson County, where they found an active methamphetamine laboratory.
Investigators were awaiting a hazardous material cleanup crew at the time of the release. Nine individuals were arrested on site and are still in Jackson County custody. The following individuals arrested in the seizure are scheduled to appear in Jackson County District Court on Nov. 1:
Jeremy Thomas Carpenter, 26, of Cotton Trail Ln., Robbinsville, NC. Carpenter has been charged with one count of felony conspiracy and was issued a $10,000 secured bond for that charge. In an unrelated case, he was also charged with nine counts of identity theft, nine counts of obtaining property under false pretenses and was issued a $45,000 secured bond.
Jessica Lynn Walsh, 26, of Lazy Lane in Whittier, was charged with felony conspiracy and felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance. Walsh was issued a $20,000 secured bond.
James Carlile Haney, 36, of Parrish Road in Bryson City, was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and felony conspiracy. He was issued a $30,000 secured bond.
Danny William Ratliff, 38, of Lazy Lane in Whittier, was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substances and felony conspiracy. He was issued a secured bond of $50,000.
Bethany Lightstar Powers, 22, of Robbinsville, was charged with felony conspiracy. She was issued a $10,000 secured bond.
Jay David Neugin, 37, of Trailer Steel House Branch in Bryson City, was charged with felony conspiracy. He was issued a $10,000 secured bond.
Sandra Lee Fabian, 39, homeless but formerly of Connecticut, was charged with felony conspiracy. A secured bond of $10,000 was set.
Paul Brian Ledbetter, 40, of Berts Creek Road in Robbinsville, was charged with felony conspiracy. He was issued a $10,000 secured bond.
Brooke Lynn Seay, 34, of Turkey Creek Road in Clyde, was charged with felony conspiracy. She was issued a $10,000 secured bond.
