More than 25 soldiers will be deploying to Afghanistan to provide security and enforcement operations for military bases.
The unit has been deployed previously in Desert Storm in 1991 and again in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004.
The unit will be deployed for approximately one year.
Their next stop will be at Fort Bliss, Texas, for additional training before moving on to Afghanistan some time this spring.
Sgt. Daniel Baldwin of Otto, N.C., is one of the soldiers being deployed.
