News Afternoon accident on 441S sends one to the hospital

Photo by Vickie CarpenterOn the afternoon of Tuesday, Sept. 24, a vehicle accident occurred in front of Arby's on 441S.

A black Ford F250 driven by Samual Hastings of Franklin pulled out from Bojangles in front of an Anderson Trucking Co. tanker truck out of Anderson S.C. that was traveling south on U.S. 441, driven by Kevin Shirley from Abbyville S.C.

Shirley struck the center of the driver’s side door of Hastings vehicle.

The tanker truck rested in the turning lane facing south bound and the Ford F250 pickup rested across the north bound lane ending on the median in front of Arby's.

Hastings was transported to Angel Medical Center by Macon County EMS where he was admitted and treated for injuries sustained in the accident. Hastings’ condition was unknown at presstime.

Hastings was written a citation for unsafe movement.

Franklin Fire Department also responded to the scene. Franklin Police Officer Dwayne Cabe was the investigating officer. North Carolina State Trooper Jonathon Cabe was called in to inspect the tanker truck.
