A vehicle accident occurred on 441S. last Thursday morning. A Werner Enterprises Inc. tractor trailer driven by Mebrahtu Abraham from Washington D.C. and a Macon County tractor trailer driven by James Banta of Franklin, were both traveling south on 441.
Victoria Wood was traveling north in a black Toyota car when she swerved into the southbound lane. Abraham saw Wood heading into his lane and tried to move over into the right lane that was occupied by Banta to avoid hitting Wood head on.
Abraham side-swiped Banta with the right side of his truck and hit the front of Wood's car with the left front side of his truck. Wood's car rested in the median and the northbound left lane. Abraham's truck rested in the middle of the south bound lanes about 25 feet from Wood's car. Banta's truck rested in the southbound right hand lane about 40 ft., from Abraham's truck.
Franklin Fire Department and Macon County EMS responded to the scene. The jaws of life were used to extract Wood from her vehicle and she was transported to Angel Medical Center.
State Trooper Mike Henry was the investigating officer.
