Franklin came alive last Saturday as thousands of people flocked downtown for the 17th Annual PumpkinFest weekend.
Nearly 700 participants signed up for the famous pumpkin roll competition and this year the winner was from Franklin. “We would like to congratulate Blanche T. on being our winner,” said Linda Schlott, Franklin Main Street Program Executive Director. “Blanche rolled her pumpkin 978 feet!” According to Schlott, this year’s event drew the largest crowds ever.
“We could not stage this festival without the assistance of our many volunteers that make this festival a true community event each year. Some of the volunteers were on the street at 6 a.m. in below freezing temperatures helping vendors find their spaces,” said Schlott.
