Macon Program for Progress Holiday Angels will offer assistance to low income families with young children or elderly during the Christmas holidays. Applications will be available Nov. 4 thru Nov. 29.
Eligible adults must be 63 or older or special needs adults on fixed incomes. Families who apply must have full custody of at least one child 12 or younger. Eligibility follows Federal Poverty guidelines and proof of last 12 months household income is required. Holiday Angels works with other area groups to verify family services and avoid duplication. Holiday Angels eligibility criteria prioritizes families with the greater need and matches clients with a sponsor or uses cash donations to provide some type of assistance as funds allow.
Holiday Angels is self-supporting and operates solely on monetary donations and sponsorships. We are seeking community support and asking for individuals or groups wishing to be a sponsor to contact us. Sponsors can pick up an application or request one via email gshennan@ mppnhc.org or call (828) 524-4471. Clubs, families, churches, individuals, or other area groups are invited to participate.
Sponsors will be matched to a family or elderly individual the first week of December. As a sponsor, you receive information about your family or individual. Sponsors can shop and wrap gifts and deliver or bring to MPP to arrange for delivery. Holiday Angels accepts tax-deductible monetary donations. In the past, donations have ranged from $20 to $1,000, so anything sponsors feel appropriate will be greatly appreciated. One hundred percent of funds are spent for Holiday Angels direct services to families living in Macon County; no administrative costs are applicable.
Inquire further by contacting Glenda Sherman, project coordinator. Both client and sponsor applications available at MPP main offices, located at 82 East Orchard View Lane, behind Lowes of Franklin. Deadline is Nov. 29.
