“Tom Raby Night” at the Franklin High School Basketball Games has been rescheduled for Feb. 4, where the Panthers will take on East Henderson High School. All “Crazy for a Cure” quarter contests and shoot-outs to help raise awareness and funds for pancreatic research will go on as planned during this rescheduled game. The East Henderson game will be a “Purple Out” where fans should wear purple in memory of Tom Raby. JV Teams will begin at 4 p.m. followed by Varsity Teams around 6:30 p.m.
“The night has been deemed Tom Raby Night, in memory of the beloved basketball and baseball coach who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in 2002.” Between the Varsity games, the FHS Athletic Booster Club will recognize Coach Raby’s accomplishments and former players. Activities in clude “Slam Dunk Cancer” shootouts; “Crazy for a Cure” contests during the quarter breaks that will involve FHS Staff in shoot-outs and dance-offs; a Parade of Tutus with leaders in the community donning purple tutus; and drawings for prizes throughout all games and for $1 a chance, you could win: FHS 2014-2015 Season Passes (good for all sports); tickets for Gary Puckett show at the Smoky Mtn. Center for the Performing Arts; or a $75 Mobile Gas Card from Dowdle Mtn. Pit Stop.
Winners will be announced during fourth quarter of the Boys’ Varsity game (must be present to win).
