Macon County will honor its veterans with a special parade and ceremony on Friday, Nov. 11, beginning at 10 a.m. with a Veterans Parade through downtown Franklin, followed by a ceremony at the Gazebo on the Square featuring Vietnam veteran Gary Shields as the keynote speaker. Vice Mayor Verlin Curtis will also speak and elementary school children will sing. The ceremony will conclude with a wreath laying ceremony on the courtyard of the Macon County Courthouse. The community is encouraged to attend and show their support.
Immediately following the ceremony, veterans and their families are invited to a chili luncheon at the VFW Post on West Palmer Street.
