Brian and Andrea Thurmond of Franklin, announce the birth of their son, Keagan Tyler Thurmond on February 20, 2012. He weighed 6lbs 8 oz and 19 3/4 inches long.

Keagan has a proud big brother, Matthew Thurmond, age six.

Maternal grandparents are Cless & Linda Overly from Cumming, GA. Paternal grandparents are Jim & Linda Thurmond of Franklin, NC.

Keagan shares his birthday with his mom and maternal grandmother, who were also born on February 20.

The School of Music at Western Carolina University will present an evening featuring solo oboe with strings at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, in the recital hall of the Coulter Building.

Admission is free and the public is invited.


The Macon County Art Asssociation (a not-for-profit artist association) will host artist Mary Lou Carpenter in a workshop on “Creativity” on March 24 from 10AM-4PM. Interested persons can inquire at the Uptown Gallery, 30 E Main, Franklin NC.

If you are a slow pitch softball player at least 58 years old in 2012 and able to play during the day, please consider joining the Franklin Old Bones softball team. There is no upper age limit!

The Old Bones softball team is sponsored by Macon Bank and they play in the Franklin Church League and against nearby cities, playing around 90 day and 14 night games from April thru October.
