News Education WCU to hold Feb. 19 open house for prospective students

Prospective college students can get a taste of what campus life is all about as Western Carolina University holds Open House on Saturday, Feb. 19.

Open House gives students and their families a chance to tour the campus, including classrooms, residence halls, the library and WCU’s new Campus Recreation Center. Faculty members will be on hand during an information fair to discuss academic opportunities and career interests, and representatives of student groups will be available to talk about extracurricular activities on campus.

Registration and check-in will be from 8 to 9 a.m. at WCU’s Fine and Performing Arts Center. After a welcome session from 9 to 9:30 a.m., campus tours will be given from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The information fair is from 10 a.m. until noon in and around A.K. Hinds University Center.

The Feb. 19 Open House will feature two special sessions – one on financial aid and one about the various admissions path to WCU.

Prospective students may use their meal tickets for a free lunch at the Courtyard Dining Hall or University Food Court, and guests may purchase lunch at any university dining location.

Students who have been admitted to the university will have an opportunity to submit their tuition and housing deposits, which secures their place in the incoming class.

Another Open House event is scheduled for March 19.

More information about Open House and registration for all dates is available by clicking on http://www.wcu.edu/215.asp or by calling the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 828-227-7317 or toll-free 877-WCU4YOU (877-928-4968.)
