Ashley Marie Crane, daughter of Eddie Crane and the late Cindy Crane, earned a place on the Dean’s List for Appalachian State University for the Fall Semester.

To be included on the list, students must either be enrolled for 12 to 14 hours of course work for which quality points are computed and attain a grade point average of 3.45 or better or be enrolled for a minimum of 15 hours of course work for which quality points are computed and attain a grade poing average of 3.25 or better.

Crane received a grade point average of 3.67 on a 4.00 scale and is senior majoring in Child Development Birth through Kindergarten. She should graduate in May 2013.

 

Savannah Bruun of Franklin was recently honored by Berea College in Berea, Ky. for her accomplishments in the field of service. Bruun received the 2011 Berea College Pinnacle Scholars Award of Excellence.

This honor commemorates students’ accomplishments and dedication in the fields of science, music or service. High school seniors from across the region were nominated for this award. Berea College faculty and staff reviewed the submissions and selected the top students to receive the award in each area.

Berea College was overwhelmed by the number and caliber of students nominated this year. Bruun has been chosen specifically out of more than 500 nominees and was honored at a formal awards ceremony in December.

Greg Duelfer of Franklin, NC earned the distinction of Faculty Honors for Fall 2011 at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Undergraduate students earning a 4.00 academic average for the semester gain the distinction of Faculty Honors at Georgia Tech.
