The Scaly Mountain Women’s Club was thrilled with the success of their eighth annual auction held July 8th at the new Scaly Mountain Fire Station. Many more people could attend the auction in the large Fire Department Community Room. Most of the proceeds from the auction will benefit the Scholarship Fund. The club is currently giving scholarships to ten students including four who will be freshmen this Fall.
There was a crowd of lively bidders and almost everyone happily took home some amazing bargains.
Our most sincere thanks to the your newspaper who gave us publicity, so that people were made aware of the auction. A special thanks to the Fire Department for the use of the community room and to all who attended and supported the auction.
Karen Muns, auction chairwoman, said that the success of the auction can largely be attributed to the generous support of the businesses. It is with much appreciation that the Scaly Mountain Women’s Club acknowledges the businesses that donated items to help raise money for the Scholarship Fund.
We would also like to thank the SMWC members who did lovely paintings, quilted a gorgeous quilt, knitted a shawl, and all those who donated items. Kudos to Peter Whitcup and Laure Walsh who are providing a gourmet dinner for 10 later this summer.
Again sincere thanks go to auctioneer, Bryan Snyder and his wife Kim Snyder for conducting our auction for the past eight years.
We so appreciate the media and the wonderful folks in our extended community who participated in the auction. We could not have done it without you.
