What continues to amaze me is that in this age when so much information is available via the Internet, we still have people like Carol Adams, of Glenville, N.C., who continue to be totally ignorant about the Environmental Protection Agency. It probably won’t do any good to ask her to check her facts carefully before she begins charging that the agency is “out of control, often operating autonomously with bureaucrats rather than elected officials.”
Indeed, this is perhaps far too much to ask, but if she’s got the time to establish a free GMAIL account with Google ... and if she wouldn’t mind creating a “news alert” for herself (http://www.google.com/alerts) ... she can then have that search engine deliver into her inbox — free of charge, either once a day or less often — news stories regarding all the things the EPA attempts to do on her behalf, as well as the rest of the American people.
And in doing so, she may well educate herself before she goes flying off into the wild blue yonder on some baseless charge. She may even learn, much to her chagrin, how terribly careless corporations are when it comes to our land, air, and water.
’Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished.
