Since our wonderful opportunity to retire to the lovely N.C. mountains, we have noticed a brouhaha with the Town over wonderful activities Venture Local has tried to promote.
Coming from Safety Harbor, Fla., where every third Friday evening was promoted and aided by the local police to re-route traffic, I am stunned that the Board seems reluctant to cooperate with anything that can bring social connectivity, Franklin advertising and increased business to our lovely little town. This is what I see articles about in the papers ... not good for trying to attract future small business to Franklin. Gosh, with the economy in the straits it's in, why would a town be so foolish?
We believe you should get on board with these wonderful ideas from Venture Local, block Main Street and re-route traffic to allow foot traffic only, where people can bring their dogs, peruse the businesses, and include as many vendors as want to come!
What in the world could be more fun, than on a Friday night through the Fall, than to get people out to enjoy this sleepy town? It would so help the businesses and possibly bring people who would want to purchase property here.
We are concerned citizens who would like to see Franklin improve in positive ways for everyone, so please consider this change as the right move!
