Opinion Letters Many kinds of instruments found in the Bible

In the Jan. 2 edition of The Franklin Press, a person sent in a rant concerning the use of musical instruments in church.

Their rant read: “Whatever happened to just an organ and piano in church? Some of the music in churches nowadays is inappropriate. The Bible says make a joyful noise but not an inappropriate one.”

The Bible says make a joyful noise unto the Lord. It does not say anything about appropriate or inappropriate.

If the writer had studied their Bible they would have learned that there were many different musical instruments used to worship God.

Scriptures: Psalms 98:5-6; Hosea 5:8; 2 Samuel 6:5; I Chronicles 15:16; II Chronicles 29:25; Ezra 3:10; Psalms 150:3-5; Daniel 3:5; Genesis 4:21; Nehemiah 12:27; Job 21:12; Revelation 5:8 and 14:2; I Samuel 16:23.

There are many more scriptures telling of the use of many different musical instruments used in praising God.

So, before you make a statement be sure you have the facts right.
