Opinion Letters KIDS Place donations doubled with matching grant

Great news! Back in December we gave you an update on KIDS Place and the many services we provide for children in Macon County who have suffered abuse. At that time we also told you about the two-month challenge grant from the Robert and Polly Dunn Foundation that would match all gifts up to $20,000. And, many of you very generously responded to the challenge. Thank you.

In fact, the overall response from the community was so over-whelming that we just had to share the good news. Not only did we meet the goal of raising $20,000, but thanks to the generosity of so many people, we surpassed that goal. It’s incredible to think that during December and January, donations totaling $27,520 were made to KIDS Place to help our children.

But, the good news doesn’t stop there. The Robert and Polly Dunn Foundation was so impressed with the generosity of the people of Macon County that they decided to go above and beyond by matching the entire $27,520. So, every penny donated during this campaign was doubled – that’s a total of $55,040. Thank you Robert and Polly Dunn Foundation.

All too often the staff and team members at KIDS Place see and hear about things that are done to children that are unimaginably horrible. But, this winter we have been reminded that our community is also home to many kind, caring, and compassionate individuals.

Thank you for caring about the children of Macon County. Thank you for helping us meet this challenge. Thank you for your financial support, moral support, and spiritual support. Thank you for helping us make a positive difference for our children. Thank you for helping KIDS Place provide hope and healing for abused children and their families through coordinated services in a childfriendly place.

Thank you again,

Alisa W. Ashe
Executive Director KIDS Place
