Opinion Letters Sincere thanks to Swain community for support

Thank You from Jasmine Littlejohn, Mother of Aubrey Kina- Marie Littlejohn.

I would like to thank our benevolent Principal Chief Hicks, the unrelenting Investigators Danny Cheatham and Carolyn Posey, Attorneys David Wijewickrama and Jamie Kilbourne.

Kevin King, County Manager, you persevered through all the required meetings in the face of hardship and mistreatment in hopes of finding justice -thanks.

I am sending a great thank you to the following: the bold Swain Commissioners, David Monteith, Robert White, Donnie Dixon and Phil Carson. I am aware that making the decisions you have made in the last few weeks on my daughter’s behalf and on the behalf of every other child in Swain County took courage; to champion and defend the defenseless in the face of overwhelming adversity is the definition of true bravery; and for your recent actions, I am very grateful.

In my prayers are the following: the Swain County Department of Social Service Board (DSS), to include Jim Gribble, Bob Thomas, and Wally Treadway; I know you were tasked with hard self evaluations, and chose your own path; for that I would like to say thank you and may God Bless you and your families.

Frela Beck, thank you for your continued service on the DSS board, I will pray that your guidance in dealing with the tragic events that lead to the death of my daughter Aubrey Kina-Marie will be wise. That your direction comes from prayer and given to you by God.

Last, but certainly not least, I express my appreciation and love to my family, friends and the entire Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians for all the support and prayers during these difficult times.

Jasmine Littlejohn
