Opinion Letters More people should be given the chance to speak

Since some members of the Franklin Board of Aldermen have worked hard to make the Office of Mayor adjunct to the board and not a viable part of the board, Mayor Bob Scott should begin having monthly "Mayor's Meetings" to give everyone a chance to voice anything they have to say.

It does not have to be called a "town hall" meeting, and it should include an invitation to all the 34,000 other residents of Macon County who care about the future of our county seat of Franklin and its effect on our county.

The tip of the dog's tail has been wagging the entire dog long enough, with less than desirable consequences, and more people should have an opportunity to discuss the future of our county and county seat in an open public setting.

Many of us out here in the county are becoming increasingly disgusted with watching a few bullies squelch public discourse in Franklin while others stand around with their fingers up their noses, afraid to stand up to the bullies.
