Opinion Letters Permit fees make business idea too costly

When I was a little child, I was taught a prayer for children: “Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep .... “

I recently received a modest inheritance with which I had hoped to start a small business. I am finding that after my various governments in Washington, Raleigh and out on Trash Dump Hill get through chewing away at it with their several building and other regulations and their “permit” fees, the business project is too expensive for me to undertake.

Since revenge is the Lord’s, it is now time for me to learn a prayer for adults.

“Heavenly Father, we beseech you to bring down upon the heads of our elected officials and their bureaucratic minions the wrath of your terrible, swift justice; scourge them Heavenly Father, for they have afflicted the land and Heavenly Father, cast them out of the land, or at least out of office. They have strayed from Thy ways Heavenly Father, and if it be not Thy will to strike them down and cast them out Heavenly Father, then we beseech you Heavenly Father to anoint them with your benevolence and your wisdom and to bring them back to the ways of righteousness from which they have strayed. In Jesus’s name, Amen.”
