Whenever I travel I like to read local papers and the letters to the editor.
I was pleased to see Larry Turlington’s letter about “why we don’t have jobs.”
Mr. Turlington is 100 percent correct and speaks the truth. Americans have been led to believe that problems can be solved simply by passing a law, i.e., “there ought to be a law.”
However, there are more powerful economic laws which cannot be ignored and Mr. Turlington has put his finger on the crux of the issue as to why there are fewer jobs in Macon County as well as other counties throughout the United States.
As a sitting city councilman in the Columbus suburb of Gahanna, Ohio I agree with Mr. Turlington that “people need to get involved first on our local level . . .” In fact I have written an essay on how to get our Constitution back by holding local politicians accountable to their oath. See it at www.localpoliticians.net.
I’m enjoying my stay in Western North Carolina and am pleased to see people like Mr. Turlington voicing his opinion in The Macon County News.
