Panthers fall to TC Roberson in home opener.

Franklin Panther Football hosted TC Robertson in the first home game of the season last Friday night in the Panther Pit.

Marquel Manning scored the only Panther touchdown in the fourth quarter in the non-conference contest.

The Panthers will travel to Swain for their next game Friday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m.

THIS WEEK IN SPORTS

TENNIS — Pisgah was the winner of a match played Aug. 27, 6-3. Singles were won by Michaela Hilliard, Carolin Schnitzius and Lexi Kloeppel. Franklin beat Smoky Mountain, 5-4, on Aug. 29.

SOCCER — Panthers are 5-0 after the game against Tallulah Falls on Aug. 30. Riggy Hernandez scored along with first time scorers Juan Morales and Kevin Ruffner. Next up is Rabun Gap Thursday, Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. Franklin won against Rabun Gap at their last meeting, 3-2.

GOLF - Coach Adam Wilson is pleased with the improvement his players have shown. Senior Keirsten Hedden is averaging 53 in her fourth season; Junior Sydney Pierce is averaging 48 and Junior Erin Campbell is averaging 45. Coach Wilson says he believes their dedication will afford a successful season.

VOLLEYBALL — Thursday Sept. 6, against Smoky Mountain; Enka on Monday, Sept. 10; East Henderson on Sept. 13; JV at 5 p.m.; Varsity 6 p.m.

TENNIS — Wednesday, Sept. 12, against Tuscola at 4 p.m.

SOCCER — Thursday, Sept. 6, against Rabun Gap at 6 p.m.; Brevard Sept. 10, at 6 p.m.

GOLF — Wednesday Sept. 12 against East Henderson at Mill Creek 4 p.m.

The Franklin High School Marching Panther Regiment were in full uniform as they gave a sneak peak of their upcoming competition show. The show is entitled "Believe" featuring music from the "Polar Express". The band’s first competition is at Enka Sept. 29.
