Photos by Vickie CarpenterFranklin Panthers dominated the Brevard Blue Devils at last Friday’s football game in the Panther Pit in the Western North Carolina Athletic Conference opener, 35-6.

The victory brought the Panthers’ record to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Franklin meets the Pisgah Bears next Friday in Pisgah.

THIS WEEK IN SPORTS

SOCCER - In a hard fought match, the Panthers fell just short in their first conference game of the year Sept. 10 against Brevard. The Panthers’ win streak of six came to an end. On Sept. 12, the Panthers won against Pisgah, 6- 2, to bring their record to 7-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

TENNIS - Monday, Sept. 10, the tennis team was defeated by West Henderson. Michaella Hilliard & Ashely Hull won at the number one doubles position. The team fell to Tuscola on Wednesday. Carolin Schnitzius & Lexi Kloeppel won at number two doubles and Katrina Harris & Haylee Garrett won at number three doubles.

On Thursday, the Panthers defeated West Oak. Winning at singles were Ashley Hull, Carolin Schnitzius, and Lexi Kloeppel. Michaela Hilliard & Ashely Hull won at number one doubles, while Katrina Harris & Haylee Garrett won at number two doubles.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 20, Volleyball vs. Tuscola, JV at 5 p.m.; Varsity at 6 p.m. — JV Football vs. Pisgah at 7 p.m. — Tennis vs. W. Oak at 4 p.m.
