Foul trouble didn’t faze the Franklin High School boys who were named champions of Franklin High School's Christmas Classic. Beginning last Thursday, the tournament, which hosted Andrews High School, West Oak High School from Westminster, South Carolina, Rabun County High School and Franklin High School, the varsity boys basketball team rallied to reign victorious over Andrews, 58-23, in the first round of the tournament. On Friday, the Panthers were matched up with West Oak and finished the tournament with a 60-49 victory, marking the second year in a row the Franklin boys team has won the tournament.

The Lady Panthers began tournament play on Thursday against Andrews, coming out on top 71-24. On Friday, the Panthers faced Rabun County, the winner of Thursday's Rabun County vs. West Oak match, and in a disappointing one-point loss, the Lady Panthers lost 62-61. The loss was bittersweet as the Panthers had just beaten Rabun County at their home court in Georgia the week prior to the tournament.

The tournament still brought celebration for the Lady Panthers as junior Sarah Henson scored her 1,000th career point on a free throw on Friday. Henson scored a total of 20 points against Rabun County. The Panthers play Swain on Saturday.
