The FHS varsity soccer team continues to dominate opponents. Last Thursday the team shut out Erwin with a score of 5-0 – the team's third shutout.
Monday the team travelled to Brevard to take on the Blue Devils in their first conference shodown. According to coach Ken Neitz, 10 minutes were left in the first half when Kevin Sanchez scored the Panthers' first goal giving the team a 1-0 half-time lead. The Panthers used solid defense to hold off the Blue Devils for the first 21 minutes of the second half. Then in a three minute span, the Panthers made the score 4-0. Angel Chavez scored in the 69th minute and Lopez scored two goals in 43 seconds. In the last 6 minutes, Brevard scored twice to make the final score, 4-2. The Panthers are now 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the Western North Carolina Athletic Conference.
The Panthers hosted the Pisgah Bears at home yesterday (Wednesday) and will look to take on the the Smoky Mountain Mustangs on their home field Monday at 7 p.m.
