Senior night recognizes spring sports athletes.

The Lady Panthers ended their regular season with another dominant victory over the Tuscola Mountaineers at the Panther Den on Monday night. The team appeared as though the week long break they had as a result of last week's snow storm had affected them very little as they held Tuscola scoreless until the last minute of the first quarter. The pace of the game didn't change much throughout as FHS took the win with a final score of 77-28.

The 2A Western North Carolina Athletic Conference tournament began on Tuesday. The Lady Panthers went 13-1 in the conference and earned themselves a bye in the first round. Tonight [Thursday] they will play the Smoky Mountain Mustangs in the 2A championship. The teams have played twice this season with Franklin winning both contests, the first time, 61-42, and the next, 66-23.

The men's varsity team also won their last regular season game against the Mountaineers on Monday night. The game was a back and forth affair in the first half which saw the lead change on a few occasions. In the third quarter, the Panthers began to show more consistency in their shots and by the end of the fourth had secured a 15-point lead and the win, 65-50. The win allowed them to avenge a loss to Tuscola from earlier in the season.

On Tuesday night, the team played in the first round of the 2A Western North Carolina Athletic Conference tournament against the Brevard Blue Devils, a team that they had split wins with over the course of two contests in the regular season. The Franklin team won their last meeting, they were not able to do the same this time around. The Blue Devils secured the win after a close game, 57-55.

The loss brings the season to an end for the men’s team.
