On Monday, the Franklin High School women's soccer team hosted rivals the Smoky Mountain Mustangs. The Lady Panthers started the game in dominant fashion, scoring four goals in the first half of the game. The strong showing allowed younger players the opportunity to sharpen their skills against the conference opponents. Franklin secured the win 4-0 and moved their overall record to 9-3, and 8-1 conference.
The Lady Panthers played again yesterday at Brevard. At their last meeting on April 9, they beat the Blue Devils, 4-0.
The FHS softball team hit the road on Monday travelling to Hayesville where they would take on the Yellowjackets. Franklin jumped out to an early lead when they put up two runs in the first inning, then added another in the third, but that was also the inning that Hayesville started to come alive. They tied it at three each in the fifth. At the end of regulation the score remained tied, sending the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the 11th, Hayesville scored a run to put the Panthers away, 4-3.
Yesterday the FHS softball team hosted Smoky Mountain at Macon Middle School. They will play at home again on Monday when they play the Pisgah Bears.
